They have the Developer Experience Core 4 for balancing speed, effectiveness, quality, and business impact. The 2025 DORA Report surveyed nearly 5,000 technology professionals and introduced seven team archetypes that combine delivery, stability, and well-being patterns.
Developer experience has a shared vocabulary. It has benchmarks. It has executive attention.
Creator experience has none of these.
The Gap No One Is Talking About
Content creators, editors, producers, and marketers inside enterprise platforms have no equivalent measurement framework. No shared metrics. No industry benchmarks. No structured way to evaluate whether the tools, workflows, and systems they rely on every day are actually working for them.
This isn’t a small group. Enterprise content operations power media companies, DTC brands, outdoor retailers, health and wellness publishers, and every organization that relies on content to drive revenue and trust. Aprimo found that inefficient content processes cost large organizations an average of $2.5 million annually in duplicated efforts, wasted time, and coordination overhead.
Meanwhile, Deloitte found that 77% of workers report AI has actually increased their workload rather than decreased it. More tools, same broken processes. That’s a productivity paradox driven by missing frameworks, not missing technology.
Yet when leadership reviews platform health, the conversation almost always starts with engineering metrics. Publishing teams are expected to produce more, faster, across more channels, and nobody is measuring whether the experience of producing that content is sustainable.

Why This Matters to Platform Health

Developer experience measurement didn’t appear overnight. DORA started with four metrics. SPACE expanded the lens. The Developer Experience Core 4 added business impact. Each framework built on what came before.
Creator Experience deserves a similar evolution. Here’s where I’d start.
Time from draft to publish
This is the most revealing metric. How long does it take for a piece of content to move from creation to live? It’s the Creator Experience equivalent of lead time for changes. At one media organization we work with, this number had quietly grown from hours to days, and nobody had noticed because nobody was tracking it. When we surfaced it, the editorial team was able to identify exactly where the delays were happening.
Steps to publish
Complexity creates drag. How many handoffs, approvals, and manual actions does a piece of content require before it goes live? I’ve seen publishing workflows that require eight or nine steps for a single article, with three separate approval layers that added no value. Fewer steps usually means fewer errors and faster output. When this number creeps up, teams slow down and frustration builds quietly.
Creator dependency rate
How often do content teams need to involve a developer for routine publishing tasks? This is the boundary line between Creator Experience and Developer Experience. A high dependency rate signals governance gaps, CMS limitations, or unclear ownership. It also drains engineering time away from roadmap work.
Revision and rework frequency
How often does published content get pulled back for corrections? Frequent rework points to unclear workflows, missing quality gates, or tools that don’t support accuracy at the point of creation. It’s also one of the easiest metrics to track and one of the first places to look when content quality issues surface.
Creator satisfaction
This is the qualitative layer, similar to how developer experience frameworks use surveys to capture perceived productivity and well-being. A short quarterly pulse on how content teams feel about their tools, workflows, and clarity provides signal that numbers alone can’t capture. If your publishing team is frustrated, it will eventually show up in output quality and retention. Measuring it early gives leadership a chance to act before it becomes a bigger problem.
None of these require complex tooling. Most can be tracked with the systems teams already have. The real challenge isn’t data collection. It’s recognizing that this dimension of platform health deserves measurement in the first place.
Why This Is a Leadership Conversation
Engineering leaders didn’t start measuring developer experience because the tools demanded it. They did it because the business outcomes demanded it.
